Closed for renovations

MDD continues its journey towards a future-proof museum building with a significant second renovation in two phases, focusing on technical installations and exhibition spaces. A new annex will further expand the exhibition space within the museum’s footprint.

The ultimate goal is to transform the museum, which has existed for over 50 years, into a sustainable building that meets all the requirements of the present time. This aims to secure our heritage and program for the future, with special attention to the location in the museum district of Deurle.

These works will occur from January 8, 2024, to June 2024 and will be carried out in collaboration with the architectural firm SVR-ARCHITECTS.

Meanwhile, MDD is not standing still. Through extra muros projects and activities, we extend our operations beyond the museum building.

Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens will reopen with the opening of the 9th edition of the Biennial of Painting.
