Embroidery workshop
In this workshop, we explore drawing on fabric using needle and thread. We set aside pencil and paintbrush and discover the tactile possibilities of textiles. Starting from embroidery as a technique, we approach the needle not only as a drawing tool, but also as a means of assemblage, experimentation, and expression.
Guided by artists Emma Crombé and Louis Dewitte, you will create your own work, inspired by the textile practice of Fernando Marques Penteado, whose work is featured in the tenth edition of the Painting Biennial. You will work with a rich range of materials and textures: from the raw, earthy qualities of jute and wool to the delicacy of embroidery thread and beads.
Step by step, your creation grows from loose pieces of fabric and thread into a unique textile work that you can take home after the workshop.
