Thomas Lerooy
Playground
For his exhibition, Playground in Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, the Belgian artist Thomas Lerooy plays willfully with the exhibition space.
A playful, well-thought-out scenography underlining a disillusion of time and space, leads the spectator through a quirky presentation of drawings and sculptures.
Lerooy's work is strongly related to classical sculpture through his thorough technical perfection and monumental presence, while at the same time referring to decay and regeneration.
The exhibition is conceived as a sculptural trajectory, which, like his work, is characterized by an alienating tension between movement and inertia but equally balances between poetry and irony.
