Meta Drčar
Art & Architecture Residency
Meta Drčar (1985) is a Slovenian artist, currently based in Paris. She creates site-specific performative sculptures that activate architectural settings to promote the viewer’s spatial engagement. Throughout her research, she has been analysing how body movement responds to the various factors of the built environment and, furthermore, challenge the ways in which we observe and experience a given architectural situation.
During her residency at Woning Van Wassenhove she developed a series of 'in-situ' sculptures. The work Frame Series, Work No. 10 was presented in 2022 as the third annual commission for the Sculpture Garden of the museum, afteruntitled 2018 (the infinite dimensions of smallness) by Rirkrit Tiravanija in 2021 and Hagioscoop by Atelier Van Lieshout in 2020.
The Art & Architecture Residency 2021 in Woning Van Wassenhove focused on an artist whose work lies at the intersection of art and architecture and was supported by Axel Vervoordt Gallery, Puilaetco and Eeckman Art & Insurance.
